Title- Supporting the Dialogue of People with Intellectual Disabilities Through Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
Abstract- Some people with intellectual disability also present communication deficiencies. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a strategy to deal with such deficiencies. AAC exploits more than one communication channel to send messages. In this paper we develop a collaborative system that uses AAC in tablets to support the dialog of these people. This research uses Design Science Research, Participatory Design and the test case of Nielsen to evaluate the solution. The results show that the system allows to accomplish the communication and it can be used in classrooms to improve the educative ways of people with intellectual disability.
