Title- Simulating students performances and its application in the verification and validation of new approaches in distance education: an experimental analysis.
Abstract- The automatic detection of learning styles in adaptive and intelligent educational systems is a growing research area. In this context, computer simulation techniques are essential, since the implementation, deployment and test of new features in these systems requires substantial amounts of financial, human resources (tutors and students) and time. In this paper we present a novel approach for the evaluation of these systems, which relies on simulating the performance of real students based on their learning styles and on how the system attends to them. The result of the present research work has led to considerable enhancements to a component for automatic detection of learning styles, which has been tested, corrected and improved in a short time and without any cost.
